To obtain your California guard card and/or firearms permit, you MUST pass a criminal background check. In this process, your fingerprints are submitted to the Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. CalTECH Fingerprinting is certified by the Bureau of Security and Investigative Services as well as the California Dept. of Justice to receive LiveScan digital fingerprint images and submit them to the FBI and California DOJ. Fingerprints submitted via LiveScan can be processed within 3 to 15 days; as opposed to 2 to 6 MONTHS for customary ink fingerprint cards.
